“Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House” is Omarosa Manigault Newman’s new book, and without the entire title we might be left to ponder who in fact is unhinged.
Manigault Newman has been a public figure, a person of considerable notoriety for several years now, most notably since her villainous days with Trump on “The Apprentice,” working with the Clinton administration, and then worming her way into the White House.
Her book, which will soon hit the shelves, details her stint as an aide to Trump, so it’s basically a tale of two personalities and its credibility is debatable. Can we believe what she relates even as she presents tapes on some of the salient moments?
Self-serving is sure to be a prominent word in the reviews, particularly from a woman who was buked and scorned and dismissed from her perch near the nation’s leader. Was he aware of her being fired or is that more gaming from the arch prevaricator and manipulator?
One of the most stunning revelations in the wake of the book’s release is her charge that Trump often spewed the N-word during his reality television tenure. Although she has tapes recorded in the Sensitive Compartmented Information, which violated regulations, she apparently does not have recorded evidence of the more damning remarks.
But like the Mueller investigation, she has begun teasing the public and the media with recordings she accumulated in various phases of her White House venture. She has also claimed that she was offered a $15,000 a month post with the Trump re-election campaign if she kept quiet about her experiences. Obviously, such proposed hush money might be chump or Trump change, depending on what she got up front for her tell-all tale and what she might receive if the book gains traction in sales. Plus, to have taken the money would have negated her current turn in the limelight.
As soon as the reports of her firing made the rounds, there was speculation that the book would soon follow. Did she get a better deal than the one offered by the “deal maker?” She is once again a hot item on the news circuit and she knows how to milk that for all its worth. Even so, the interviews and the book might come up short in explaining her motives and how she finagled her way through the political corridors, bamboozling Democrats and then Republicans.
Can the movie be far behind?
“Unhinged” starring Omarosa Manigault Newman with Alec Baldwin as Trump and Tom Hanks as John Kelly, with cameo appearances from Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kellyanne Conway.
We can already see Trump’s tweet about a “fake film.”
