The City College of New York will be hosting their presidential investiture ceremony March 29. The City University of New York board of trustees appointed the presidency to political scientist Vincent Boudreau. Boudreau will be the 13th president of CCNY. He will also be the second faculty member to be promoted to the presidency.
Boudreau worked at CCNY as a political science professor and a faculty member at the graduate center. He also served as the interim president for a year. Boudreau is well-known for his effort in establishing CCNY’s Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. He helped find funding for the school and its educational programs.
“For 26 years, Vincent Boudreau has dedicated his time at City College building programs, ensuring opportunities for prospering students and connecting with his students,” said senior adviser and interim Executive Director Dee Dee Mozeleski. “Boudreau has an extraordinary capacity, powerful vision and boundless optimism for this institution that he loves. We can expect that he will work, every day, to further the reach of our faculty, students and our entire campus community.”
Boudreau is also an author. His book “Resisting Dictatorship: Repression and Protest in Southeast Asia” is about politics in Asian countries.
Boudreau plans to work on national issues during his presidency, such as immigration and political issues. He believes with the help of CCNY his goals can be met.
The chancellor of CCNY, James B. Milliken, and representatives from the Colin L. Powell school will also be in attendance. The event will take place at the City College of New York’s Great Hall, Shepard Hall at 5:30 p.m.
