At a time when our nation is beset with a multitude of problems, from raging forest fires in California, to an increasingly unresolved immigration dilemma, and the possibility of a government shutdown, Trump, as is his wont, chooses to wail away on something that brings unchallenged satisfaction: Barack Obama.

Trump broke his arm patting himself on the back after the political victories in Florida and Georgia, basking in the notion that his support was a decisive factor, another one of his outrageous exaggerations. It was a moment again to gloat and boast how his endorsement of the Republican candidates was more consequential than the Obamas and Oprah Winfrey.

And if flailing on Obama during the recent midterms was not enough, Trump dug back into the past to charge that the Obama administration could have killed Osama bin Laden much faster than it did in Pakistan in 2011. Of course, our dunderhead president gives little regard to the fact that the pursuit of bin Laden began during the Bush administration and was basically the responsibility of the Pentagon, CIA and several military operations in the hunt for the terrorist.

But any way he can smear or tarnish Obama’s legacy is fair game for Trump, who has no sense of self-reflection or a consideration for his own failures, some of which have been listed over the years by several writers and reporters.

To list just a bit of Trump’s ineptitude, his inability to accomplish a mission is well beyond the borders of this column. Take for example the flop he endured with the collapse of Trump University, or the bankruptcies of Plaza Hotel and the casino in Atlantic City.

There is no need, however, to dwell on these distant failures when we have a fresh complement of current ones that are absolutely mindboggling. It’s impossible to forget his stumble this past summer with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Brussels, or his faulty diplomatic gambit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, as well as his continuous ambiguity on the murder of Jamal Khashoggi and shielding the leaders of Saudi Arabia.

We don’t have to retrace Trump’s treacherous path, his trail festooned with lies and deception. Slowly but surely the nation is getting hip to his chicanery, and nothing underscores this better than the recent midterm elections, especially those victories in the red states where members of his base prevail.

Gradually those citizens without affordable housing or insurance and endangered by a crumbling infrastructure will reap the disasters promulgated or exacerbated by an uncaring, thoughtless occupant of the White House. We join those who are amassing to paste a pox on POTUS. What he has done to Jim Acosta, a member of our journalistic fraternity, his relentless assertion that reporters are “the enemy of the people” is intolerable and just another example of his abrogation of our democratic rights. You know the drill—Make America Great Again—Trump Must Go!
