Five Percenters Allah & Justice Square co-named

“Peace” was a word spoken throughout the afternoon at the intersection of 126th Street and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd. ...
Clarence 13X (Allah) the founder of the Nation of Gods and Earths

First Born ABG named the other eight First Borns while delivering a brief 1964-69 history. “There were nine of us Allah sent out to teach. We understood that as Five Percenters we had no religion whatsoever. So we could understand and embrace all men of faith and religion. ‘Go to school and go to work,’ that’s what he told us.”

Justice’s son, Elijah, stated: “To the Nation of Gods & Earths, I say thank you, on behalf of me and my mother.”

Nephew Kenya introduced C Allah (Clarence Jr.), who acknowledged his father’s influence: “This is a beautiful day. When I see what he manifested and brought to light, it makes me feel good today.”

Soon, it was time to dedicate the square but when the string was pulled to reveal the new name it was only partially undone. That was no problem for a young man who quickly climbed and tore down the remaining half of paper.

The ceremony brought together a full spectrum of the community that we hope, in the words of Keith Wright, continues what was a unified afternoon of festivities, replete with history and self-determination.

Special thanks: Community Board 10, Councilman Bill Perkins’ office, Lillie Cariño-Higgins, Julius Tajiddin, everyone providing support letters.
