Make America Great Again: Trump Must Go #133

OK, which of the noxious comments from Trump or preposterous proposals do you want to air this week? As always, you have a menu of disgusting choices, from the plan to hold undocumented families in longer detention, thereby abrogating an agreement set at a 20-day limit for holding children, or whether his economic moves are taking us into another recession.
Then there’s the Trump news on Jews. On Tuesday, Trump charged that Jews who vote for Democrats show “either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”
Trump’s ongoing attack on Reps. Omar of Minnesota and Talib of Michigan prompted the comment days after imploring the Israeli government to deny them entry because they “hate Israel.”
“Five years ago,” he told the press, “the concept of even talking about this—even three years ago—of cutting off aid to Israel because of two people that hate Israel and hate Jewish people—I can’t believe we’re even having this conversation. Where has the Democratic Party gone? Where have they gone where they’re defending these two people over the state of Israel?
“I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat—it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”
In other words, Trump appears to suggest that a Jewish voter is not capable of making a political decision based on their understanding of particular issues. And to invoke “disloyalty,” it must mean those voters are disloyal to him.
Like so much of the Trumpian agenda, a loyalty oath is demanded. If you don’t vote for him you are un-American we guess, maybe even un Jewish. If you don’t vote for him you should be jettisoned off to a far away nation, maybe one you have never known or one hostile to your beliefs.
Jews, like all the other ethnic, religious or political groups in this country, can vote for whomever they choose without incurring Trump’s or any one else’s wrath. His continuous rabid condemnations are just proof of his true lack of any real grasp of the real meaning of being American.
Halie Soifer, executive director of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, makes good sense when she called the comments “yet another example of Donald Trump continuing to weaponize and politicize anti-Semitism.
“If this is about Israel,” she added, “then Trump is repeating a dual loyalty claim, which is a form of anti-Semitism. If this is about Jews being ‘loyal’ to him, then Trump needs a reality check. We live in a democracy, and Jewish support for the Republican Party has been halved in the past four years.”
Ah, a reality check is just the thing for a man absolutely disconnected from the realities of the day. Soifer could have added that in the last presidential election, according to several commentators, seven out of 10 Jews voted Democratic.
But however they choose to vote should not be a source of rebuke, particularly from someone who is so out of touch with not only the political realm but the human one.
OK, we’ve spilled our innards on this detestable miscreant, and with him out of our system for another week let’s put him out permanently, meaning to Make America Great Again—Trump Must Go!
