The Afro-Latino Festival celebrated its seventh year this past weekend, July 12 and 13, with two days of music, talks, food and dance hosted by City Point/Albee Square and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. With grant funding from Brooklyn Arts Council, the Office of Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, and individual donors and supporters the festival hosted its first podcast edition of “AfrolatinTalks” and heard from more than 15 artists from more than 10 countries. In solidarity with local business, Afro-Latino Festival also hosted nearly 20 small business entrepreneurs.
Afro-Latino Festival co-founder Amilcar Priestley said, “We are excited to continue to affirm, educate and celebrate Black culture and contributions throughout the Americas and we will continue to do our part in furthering this conversation.”
