The 400 Years of African-American History Commission celebrated the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, Juneteenth Freedom Jubilee Celebration, to share “The History of Slavery” and to memorialize its ending.
The celebration is to honor the sacrifice of our ancestors and to share the cultural heritage of slaves. There are many ways to celebrate Juneteenth but we joined several states across the country in a commemorative Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, June 3, 2019.
Performers and speakers were Nubia-Libation; Nana Zakia; the Assembly of Cadets and Military and Drummer; Ellore Grossett, songstress; Shelia Ingram, keynote speaker; and Muhammad Mosque Number 7’s Min. Abdul Hafeez Muhammad.
