Most likely it was a coincidence that as we completed MAGA #118, Trump unleashed a fusillade of 118 tweets. Included among the barrage was his discounting that the nation was on the brink of a constitutional crisis, if in fact we are there already.

“The Democrats new and pathetically untrue sound bite is that we are in a ‘Constitutional Crisis,’” Trump tweeted. He also assailed his handpicked FBI chief. “They are a sad JOKE! We may have the strongest Economy in our history.”

Well, Trumpestuous, here is our latest and like many of the other 118, you have given us not only the inspiration but the means by which to hang you on your own petard.

While the bulk of Trump’s tweets are little more than bombast and ego gratification, a few of them cannot be allowed to fly by without response, and this is particularly true when they are provocative and followed by dangerous actions.

The recent deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group, B-52 bombers and other military personnel and materiel to the Persian Gulf for some alleged Iranian threat is a cause for concern. This action was apparently prompted by what the Trump administration believes was sabotage carried out by Iranian-backed forces of oil tankers belonging to Saudi Arabia, Norway and the United Arab Emirates.

A confrontation with Iran would be just the thing, just the distraction Trump needs to get the media and Democrats off his tail. Provoking Iran, a nation that rarely needs provoking, would provide Trump temporary, if not longstanding, cover from the rain of subpoenas that have begun and may become torrential.

Even if this is nothing more than chest-thumping, which is occurring along with Trump’s ongoing feud with the leaders of North Korea and China, for the moment Mueller, Barr, impeachment, and the obstruction of justice headlines are muffled.

Muffled, yes, but they should not go away and we have a good feeling that the various committees in Congress, especially those under Democratic control, are not going to be thrown off the trail, and if we have learned anything about Trump’s unsavory, unpredictability he will, inadvertently, give us a reason to continue our demand that he be removed from office.

In fact, this recent contretemps with Iran should be fodder, not a diversion from the continuing pursuit of Trump’s removal. What it confirms is his total disregard for a possible catastrophe, and one who is tone deaf when it comes to foreign policy.

Unlike his dispute and rejection of former advisers on such matters, including James Mattis and Rex Tillerson, Trump appears to be on the same terrible page with John Bolton, his current national security adviser, and this is clearly a case of the uninformed following the belligerent.

They may be blind or uncaring of the possible mutual destruction of a clash of powers, we are not and that is why on our #119 the complaint is the same—Make America Great Again—Trump Must Go!
