On Saturday, May 18, State Sen. Kevin Parker offered his support to graduating high school students by hosting his 12th Annual Free Prom Dress Giveaway at the Samuel J. Tilden HS Campus in Brooklyn.
With the support of sponsors such as Macy’s, Celebrity Stylist Shatonia Amee and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. - Delta Rho Omega Chapter, Senator Parker offered over 300 high school seniors the ultimate pre-prom experience of a free prom dress, shoes, accessories, make-up tutorials, hair styling consultations, and additional giveaways.
“This year's prom drive was a tremendous success. Prom is an exciting milestone for seniors and the students in our community need to know that their community supports them and is willing to come together to make sure they have the resources they need to fully celebrate their accomplishments. For a second year in a row my office incorporated a small selection of suits for young men attending prom as well. I look forward to having expanding the event to assist more families year after year,” said Parker.
This event was also made successful through the generous sponsorship of brands such as Shea Moisture, NAMIC -NY Chapter, The Slim Heart Campaign, Nikki Phillip, Sesame Flyers International, Inc., Style & Grace Events and Opportunities For A Better Tomorrow (OBT) who supported by providing a small selection of suit attire for young men attending prom to select from.
