Community celebrates ninth annual Staten Island Black Heritage Parade/Family Day

The Ninth annual Staten Island Black Heritage Parade/ Family Day took place last Saturday in Stapleton.

The Ninth annual Staten Island Black Heritage Parade/ Family Day took place last Saturday in Stapleton.

The day kicked off with a ceremony at Richmond Road and Vanderbilt Avenue followed by the People’s Parade at Vanderbilt Avenue. The day concluded with the We Are Family Festival at Tappen Park.

This year’s celebration recognized community leader Virginia Allen from Brother’s Care, Inc., Jermaine Camero, principal of the Eagle Academy Young Men of Staten Island, the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Staten Island Alumnae Chapter, non-profit organization Distinguish Gentleman, the Silver Queen Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star, and others.
