Wanna reconnect and rekindle the flame with that special someone? Sometimes a quick escape is all you need to get your groove back. Whether you are planning a last-minute trip for Valentine’s Day or celebrating another special occasion, here are five romantic getaways you can take anytime.

Washington, D.C.

The nation’s capital is ideal for a romantic weekend rendezvous. Spend an afternoon at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery (free admission; 8th and F Streets NW), where you still have time to see the stunning portraits of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama before they go on tour in summer 2021. And don’t miss the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden (free admission; located on the National Mall between 3rd and 9th Streets along Constitution Ave. NW), where you can strike a pose in front of the “AMOR” version of Robert Indiana’s iconic “LOVE” sculpture and go skating in the seasonal ice rink until mid-March.

Where to stay: Housed in a national landmark building in the hopping Penn Quarter district, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco D.C. (700 F St NW) has a chic, art deco vibe. Here, guests step into an emerald green lobby with chandeliers, several couches and lounge chairs and a muti-mirrored mantle above the fireplace. Guests are greeted with a glass of wine or beer when they check in, if they missed Kimpton’s nightly complimentary wine hour. The hallways are long and winding, echoing the former historic General Post Office space. Rooms are spacious with high, vaulted ceilings and eye-catching design touches like golden yellow walls, a white lion bust above the bed, striped drapes and deep purple bedding. Dine downstairs at the swanky hotel restaurant, Dirty Habit.

North Fork, New York

The North Fork is Long Island’s laid back alternative to the hectic Hamptons. In warm weather it’s a perfect place to take a dip or walk along the shore at one of the pebble-stoned beaches and chill out in the tranquil lavender fields of Lavender By the Bay (7540 Main Rd, East Marion, NY). And anytime is the right time to raise a glass at one of the area’s stellar wineries like the family-owned, waterfront Kontokoska Winery (825 North Rd, Greenport, N.Y.), and to share creative cocktails and locally sourced seafood at the tastefully designed and dimly lit Frisky Oyster (27 Front St, Greenport, N.Y.).

Where to stay: Innkeeper Sylvia Daley makes Quintessentials Bed and Breakfast and Spa (8985 Main Road, East Marion, N.Y.) a home away from home. The Jamaica native treats guests to lively conversation and a satisfying, mid-morning brunch with eggs, muffins, fruit and vegetables served on the patio on sunny days. Guest rooms are quiet and cozy, and the well-manicured backyard is the idyllic place to tie the knot or renew your vows.

Miami, Florida

Miami is always a good time, so bring on the fun and smooches in the sun. Take a walking tour of the art galleries and graffiti walls in hip Wynwood, wine, dine and shop in trendy Brickell, put on your dancing shoes and savor Cuban cuisine in festive Little Havana, and take a beach stroll by day or night in sexy South Beach.
