The  “wag the dog” term means to distract attention away from a political scandal, often through military action. Remember that Pres. Bill Clinton, when he was impeached, bombed Iraq. Trump’s bombing of Iran right after he was impeached, and while his impeachment is dominating all the news, is a classic case of “wag the dog.”

However, Trump’s bombing of Iran runs deeper than “wag the dog,” it speaks to the depth of America’s racist warmongering imperialistic foreign policy. And––guess what––it didn’t start with the racist, misogynistic (sexist), xenophobic (fear of foreigners), fascist, egomaniac, pathological lying Trump.

It started with the birth of this nation. As a matter of fact, the kidnapping and enslavement of African people and the theft of this land from indigenous people was the foundation upon which this racist, parasitic, predatory capitalist system and its warmongering foreign policy was built. However, for the purposes of this article, let’s focus on the modern history of American imperialism in Iran.

After going through a long history of wars, fighting against British and American imperialism, the people of Iran democratically elected Mohammad Mosaddegh as prime minister of the oil-rich state of Iran. The nationalist government of Prime Minister Mosaddegh pledged to the people of Iran that they would nationalize (take over) the British and American oil companies so that the oil revenues that belonged to the people of Iran, would benefit the suffering people of Iran and not the greedy capitalists. Of course this didn’t sit well with Britain and America.

Therefore, Britain and America, with its C.I.A., engaged in an imperialist coup in 1953 that removed, by force, the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and replaced him with the long time puppet of British and American imperialism, and brutal monarch dictator Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran. Thousands of Iranians were murdered and tortured by the Shah, in order to protect British and American oil profits. This is why so many Iranians hate Britain and America.

The people of Iran never stopped struggling against Britain, America, and the Shah of Iran. By 1979 the people of Iran engaged in a successful revolution that ran the Shah out of town and brought to power the revolutionary government of the Ayatollah Khomeini, who was exiled in France because of his opposition to the Shah. Again, this didn’t sit well with Britain and America, as they lost control of the government, they also lost control of the oil revenues.

British and American interest in Iran has always been, and is to this day, oil profits at the expense of the death of thousands of Iranian people, and the protection of the occupying settler state of Israel, not human rights.

The people of Iran have the right to choose their own leaders and government, without the intervention of British and American imperialism.

So I say, impeach and convict Donald Trump! And while you are at it, impeach capitalism and imperialism! The world would be better off! Forward ever!
