Kanye West dumps Trump

It’s not exactly clear what circumstances moved rap artist Kanye West to no longer support Trump, but in an extended interview with Forbes magazine he said he had lost confidence in the president.
West said, “It looks like one big mess to me. I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.”
His decision to step away from Trump apparently came about from reports in June that Trump was sequestered in a bunker during the protests outside the White House in wake of the death of George Floyd.
Folks might want to know what took West so long? There is a recent accumulation of Trump madness, none more disturbing than his plans to remove the U.S. from the World Health Organization or to demand that governors open up their schools with the COVID-19 spiking all over the country.
West used the occasion to announce his presidential bid, though there are no clear cut plans for this. Such a run could hurt Joe Biden and take away Democratic votes. So, in one way West stops his support of Trump and then helps him another way.
When this discrepancy was pointed out to him, he said “I’m not denying it, I just told you. To say that the Black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy.”
Again, West’s logic is baffling and perhaps the whole thing is nothing more than a publicity stunt since it’s hard to believe at this late date he can get on the ballot. According to the interview, he will be using his bout with the virus as a reason for his late filing.
By renouncing his association with Trump this could be another awakening––this time a political one––for West, and a follow up to the spiritual awakening with the release of his album “Jesus is King.”
