Vibrantly talented American designer Dennis Basso’s collection was inspired by pure glamour. He showed an old-school line of clothing that focused on the basics, and his outstanding outerwear was the talk of the show.
In beautiful patterns, Basso’s furs were lightweight, casually chic and smartly styled, worn with pants, gowns and dresses. A leather coat was belted stylishly in brilliant green. For dress or sporty occasions, his men’s three-quartered length fur coat looked easy to wear. There’s a consistency in Basso’s delivery of the 61-piece collection that’s followed even in his red-carpet looks.
There were several combined leather and fur coats. Many patterned pelt picks in diamond designs were stunning. Lisa Rinna and her daughters walked the runway in this show—it was a great picture moment.
Basso’s ready-to-wear line was launched in 1983. His 37-year-old business has grown tremendously. From start to the present day, Basso has always dressed international, notable women including former First Lady Michelle Obama, former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Angela Basset, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Thandie Newton, Katie Couric, Mary J. Blige, Naomi Campbell, Robin Roberts, Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren.
Basso believes, “All women should have access to a quality and sophisticated wardrobe.” Over 20 years ago, he embarked on a major collaboration with QVC, presenting faux furs, ready-to-wear, and accessories. Subsequently, a home collection developed. He also designs an exclusive bridal collection. In 2015, actress Gabrielle Union wore a Dennis Basso wedding gown for her wedding to Dwayne Wade.
For evening, his gowns were slithery, sensuous, pretty and stunning.
