NYC Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza Steps Down

New York City School Chancellor is stepping down from leading the nation's largest school system after three years.
Carranza has lost more than ten family members and friends to COVID-19 and said he needs time to grieve.
Long-time educator Meisha Ross-Porter will fill the role. She is the executive superintendent for the Bronx and is expected to take the helm on March 15th.
Ross-Porter will be the first Black woman to hold the position.
