Shira Ansbacher is a senior in the Ad/PR program at the City College of New York. After a brief detour as a Mathematics major and a three year hiatus in Israel, she has found her calling in journalism. With hopes of using her love of language and skill with words full time, she is ready to seize the opportunities that are out there. And, as an enthusiast of culture, history and beauty, she dreams of being able to combine her talents and interests, all the while being able to travel the world extensively.
Several popular children’s authors spoke at the Children’s Book Festival, held in the courtyard of Harlem’s Studio Museum, about efforts they are making to provide a familiar voice to black youth through characterization and captivating stories.
