Over 200 children, along with their “sick” teddy bears, descended on Montefiore’s North Hospital Emergency Department on Saturday, May 5 to receive “treatment” and important health and safety advice.

With approximately 90,000 pediatric patient visits made to Montefiore’s three emergency departments annually, the goal of the day was to help children understand the process and make them feel comfortable and unafraid of the emergency room experience.

Saturday marked the seventh annual Teddy Bear Hospital, where children bring their teddy bears through triage, medical exams, including X-rays that they took home, treatment and advice from nurses and doctors on how to care for the patient as well as discharge advice.
