fourteen juniors and seniors in high school have been awarded $2,500 to persue projects to help their communities.

ANN INC in collaboration with Vital Voices in order to spur on the pro women’s movement with their ANNpowers Grant. The grant they will receive worth $2,500 will help in implementing a project of their choice, in their communities. The Grants are awarded built on an inclusive review process of the project proposals by ANN INC. and Vital Voices leadership, as well as the recently appointed ANNpower Advisory Council.

In March thousands of girls nationwide went through an application process, but only fifty were chosen to participate in the very first 2012 first ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative. The Initiative was a three-day leadership-training course, in Washington D.C. Upon completion of the training, the girls were challenged with developing projects that they see fit, and eligible to receive the ANNpowers grant.

In a press release, President, and CEO of Ann Inc, Kay Krill said “We are so honored to award these inspiring young women with the resources to help put their ideas into action, as a company for women, ANN INC. is passionate about empowering the next generation of female leaders. The 2012 ANNpower Grantees are helping us lead this charge by ‘paying it forward’ and initiating change within their communities. We look forward to all that they will achieve in the coming year and feel privileged to take part in their journey.”

ANN INC. is committed to investing more than $1.3 million in the ANNpower Initiative through its ANN Cares charitable platform until 2014. In doing so, they will provide leadership training and mentorship opportunities to at least 50 young women annually.
