Ten-year-old film star Quvenzhané Wallis may reportedly receive $1.5 million for her role in the upcoming film adaptation of “Annie,” the classic Broadway show and film.
After being nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” this amazing, talented emerging star has received a robust contract for her work in “Annie,” which also stars Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz and is produced by Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, along with rap star and entrepreneur Jay Z.
Wallis received $750,000 as a base pay to act in the film and will receive another $750,000 if the film does well at the box office. However, this is a mere financial trifle compared to 5 percent of profits, 5 percent of all merchandising and 10 percent of soundtrack/album royalties, as TMZ reported after reviewing the actress’ contractual documents.
It looks as though Wallis’ career in film is set to soar upward and set to last, as her contract also seems to be well thought-out and morally sound in regards to the young starlet’s innocent image. Her contract states, “Her image can be used to promote the film but not the sale of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, feminine hygiene products and pharmaceuticals … and she will receive unlimited Wi-Fi in her trailer, the choice of what takes are shared in the bloopers reel, and she will get to choose her own clothes and outfits for this film, as long as she does not lend the pieces to anyone else.”
Wallis is certainly in control of her career!
