The Pan African Solidarity Hague Committee is hosting a commemoration forum, “The Lessons of Sharpeville, Orangeburg and Jackson State,” on Thursday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Medgar Evers College, 1637 Bedford Ave. Speakers will include attorneys King Downing, Alfred Toussaint and Roger Wareham.
Human Rights Day (March 21) marks the 54th anniversary of the Sharpeville massacre in South Africa in 1960, during which police opened fire on unarmed protesters opposing pass laws, killing 69 people.
