Comedy powerhouse and “30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan is reported to have experienced substantial injuries after a stretch limo transporting him and four friends was hit by a truck on Saturday morning near Trenton, N.J.
Morgan’s friend, comedy writer James McNeir, was killed in the collision. McNeir, better known as Jimmy Mack, remains the only casualty in the violent car accident that left Morgan in critical condition.
CNN has released details of Morgan’s injuries, saying, “Morgan suffered several injuries, including broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and a broken femur.”
“The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead,” Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police told CNN. “At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn.”
It has also been reported that the truck that was responsible for the six-car accident was owned by mega-chain Wal-Mart. The truck driver, Wal-Mart employee Kevin Roper, turned himself in and was released on $50,000 bail Saturday night.
The other four cars that were affected had no reported injuries. Prayers and condolences have been mounting over the weekend on Twitter and social media wishing Morgan a speedy recovery.
