Kendrick Lamar described himself as a “hip-hop rhyme savior” on his new single, “The Heart Part 4” via his Twitter feed March 24. The track is a follow-up to his 2012 song, “The Heart Part 3,” which pummels you with rap greatness from beginning to end. NME wrote of the new single, “‘The Heart Part 4’ is an uncompromising, agitated beast, taking aim at Trump and if speculation is to be believed, Drake and Big Sean. But it might not necessarily be the strongest pointer of what to expect from a full-length. Timely, ultra-topical lyrics suggest it was recorded in the last couple of months, and it could be a means of raising excitement levels, rather than
being an official lead single.”
The four-minute, 49-second song has ignited speculation of the release of an upcoming full-length album from Lamar. To further speculation, a track list was leaked over the weekend in a mysterious post on the message board site Pastebin:
