Combine cabaret singing, gossip, drama, and an immersive evening at the theater and what do you have? “Secrets” playing at the Secret’s Bar at Drai’s Supper Club (244 W. 14th Street). From the time you enter the basement where the Secrets bar is housed, you are a part of the drama, comedy, and fun about to unfold. As you take your seat, at a cozy table or on the couch, you never know who could be sitting next to you, because the actors are dispersed throughout the intimate setting. You also get to take part in the action as gossip is passed to you on a napkin or characters speak directly to you to ask advice about their love lives.

A very light-hearted, engaging storyline is happening around you as you find out how the characters in this bar interact with each other. The way they connect is interesting, and eavesdropping on their conversations and arguments is a lot of fun. This charming, immersive evening is different each time; since the audience is engaged to participate, and they do, no audience is going to have the same responses.

The play is written by Lupe Gehrenbeck and Vadim Ordovsky Tanaevsky, who is also one of the show’s producers (along with Mirror Image Studios) and a co-director (along with director Lisa Klages Calhoun). It’s an original evening you will enjoy and want to experience with friends and family. After all, we all like a bit of gossip and drama! This play has comedy; romance; unrequited love; and snobby, uptight parents. I’ve said enough.

The ensemble cast works quite well together and creates an atmosphere of captivating delectable fun. The actors include Adam Auslander, Christian Prins Coen, Christopher LeMonda, Emma Markey, Heather Peterson, Jamishay Cammann, Maddy Mackarey, Sergio Myers II, Ron Weiss, and Zuri Eshun.
