The H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players’ great new production of “Who’s Mama’s Baby, Who’s Daddy’s Child?” opening May 27 at the Harlem School of the Arts, is a powerful family drama written by Gertrude Jeannette, CEO emeritus and founder of the H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players.
“Who’s Mama’s Baby, Who’s Daddy’s Child?” is about senior couple Ozelle Lambert, a semiretired school teacher, and Hor- ace Lambert, a retired postal worker. BEYONCE WINS BILL- BOARD MILLENNIUM AWARD, RELEASES HOT NEW ALBUM “4”:
Many years ago, Columbia Records hired me to write the biography of Destiny’s Child’s first major album. So I was very pleased to learn that Beyonce received the Billboard Millennium Award and performed her new single, “Run the World (Girls),” for the first time on network television at last Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards on ABC.
Several of Beyonce’s close relatives, famous friends and collaborators-including first lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, The-Dream, U2’s Bono, Babyface, Stevie Wonder, sister Solange and her son Daniel “Juelz” Smith, Barbra Streisand and Matthew and Tina Knowles-took part in the Billboard Millennium Award presentation with prerecorded personal messages about the beautiful Beyonce’s accomplishments and impact. The honoree herself then took the stage to perform “Runthe World (Girls),” the lead single from her fourth studio album, “4,” for the first time ever. A virtual duplicates of Bey rocked behind her on a huge video screen, leading up to an impressive 100 backup dancers emerging to rock collectively to the girl power anthem.
After the showstopping performance, Tina Knowles and Juelz presented Beyonce with the Billboard Millennium Award, as the singer eagerly thanked her parents, DestinyChild’s Kelly Rowland Michelle Williams and even former members of the group, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson.
Beyonce ended her speech by shouting out to her husband, “I love me some Jay-Z,” as the rap star and music industry mogul smiled and nod- ded while a collective “Aww” was heard in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Arena.
Here’s sending out congratulations to Beyonce and wishing her huge success with her hot new album.Sending out best wishes to you and yours to have a fantastic week!
