Soul man Raphael Saadiq kept it moving at the ESPYs last Wednesday on ESPN. As the featured house band, Saadiq performed throughout the evening at the prestigious annual award event that celebrates the year in sports. The ESPYs, which aired at 9 p.m. EST, boasted sports and entertainment celebrities who helped to recognize the year’s greatest achievements, “from special moments to great performers.”
Fresh off his national tour, Saadiq performed hits from “Stone Rollin’,” his studio release that debuted at No. 1 on the R&B album chart and received rave reviews by critics, including Rolling Stone, NPR Music and Billboard.
In addition, Saadiq performed songs from his other albums, “Heart Attack” and “Movin’ On Down the Line,” a celebration of the ’60s and ’70s soul sound with a “futuristic twist.” The popular soul man also performed hit songs such as “Love That Girl,” “Big Easy” and “Sure Hope You Mean It.”
