The wave of attacks is still hitting New York City after Tyshanna Murphy was shot dead this month in Harlem, the murder of Tysha Jones on Brighton beach in June, and the stabbing of 16-year-old girl Kyanna Thomas death on Sunday morning in Brooklyn.

For the moment there is no information on her killer, but the Thomas family is calling for community support to get any information necessary to catch those responsible of the senseless killing.

Tony Herbert, the stated community advocate declared in a press conference on Sunday:

“I have a daughter and two teen sons and I can’t fathom the thought of what Kyanna’s family is going thru right now, but we will work diligently to help bring the family some closure to this senseless murder. We will be reaching out to the family to be as helpful as possible in this their time of grieving,” he said.

On Tuesday September 27, the family’s victim and the community are hosting a vigil and organizing a prayer/candle light vigil in the memory of Thomas, to thank the community for its support and to call those responsible for Thomas’ death to turn themselves.

The event will take place at 7:30 pm at the corner of Saratoga Avenue and McDougal Street and will gather Thomas’ Family and friends, The Urban Community Council, community leaders, Organizations, Ocean Hill residents and clergy leadership.
