The Devil and Elijah Muhammad Opens at Hsota October 25 (38424)

Gertrude Jeannette and the H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players will open their 2011-2012 theater season with Yusef Salaam’s dynamic, award-winning play, “The Devil and Elijah Muhammad,” directed by Ward Nixon and featuring a stellar cast: Albert Eggleston, Ivan Goris, Ralph McCain, Tomike Ogugua, Jared Reinmuth, Valarie Tekosky, Joan Valentina and Cooki Winborn.

This powerful drama captures a portion of this great Muslim leader’s life and legacy. “The Devil and Elijah Muhammad” delves into the makings of Elijah Muhammad’s ideologies, thought processes, drive and commitment to his belief system, as well as his love and respect for the Black race. Come see why he was loved, hated, criticized and misunderstood by many. This play is full of suspense, intrigue and an unexpected turn of events. It’s a must-see!

“The Devil and Elijah Muhammad” will play from Oct. 25 through Nov. 6 at the Harlem School of the Arts Theatre, located at 647 St. Nicholas Ave. at 142nd Street in Harlem.

The show dates and times are Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Please note that the H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players now present six shows per week for a consecutive two-week period. Again, Tuesday through Sunday (six shows) for Week 1, and Tuesday through Sunday (six shows) for Week 2. This new schedule replaces their previous weekend-only schedule.

Ticket prices are $20 or two for $30; $15 for seniors, students or groups of five or more; and $8 for children under 12.

The preview dates featuring free will offerings for admission (donations only) are Tuesday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Dinner theater will take place on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. The ticket price will be $25 for everyone. This includes a dinner reception and refreshments immediately following the show.
