Bethune-Cookman senior defensive end Ryan Davis continues to reap accolades from his outstanding performance when he helped the Wildcats to defeat then 24th-ranked Norfolk State last Thursday night on ESPNU.

After receiving MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, then National FCS Defensive Player of the Week from the Sports Network on Monday, Davis received three more notable honors on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4 senior from Tampa recorded 11 tackles (eight solo), six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, not only helping Bethune-Cookman top NSU 14-6 but also receiving the honor of Box to Row National HBCU Player of the Week.

In addition to the BTR nod, Davis also earned recognition as one of the National Defensive Athletes of the Week from the Beyond Sports Networks, based out of Leesburg, Va.

Davis also picked up recognition from the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA), his third of the season and Bethune-Cookman’s 16th time receiving a piece of CFPA recognition of the year. Davis was named National Defensive Player of the Week by CFPA, sharing the award with Montori Hughes of UT-Martin. This is Bethune-Cookman’s first top position award from CFPA in 2011.

Davis was also named CFPA’s Defensive Lineman Weekly National honoree for his performance.

Davis and the Wildcats (4-3, 2-2 MEAC) are working hard this week in preparation for their second straight road game, traveling to Durham, N.C., for a Saturday matchup with North Carolina Central (1-6, 0-4 MEAC).
