On Nov. 12, the New York City African community was invited to attend the annual Muslim celebration of Tabaski, organized by Sede Sandiya, a group of African women from Harlem. The group wanted to gather people for their traditional Mandingo dance of Mamayah.
“This was a real success, and we gathered around 500 people there. That’s a lot, and it encourages us to continue,” said Kalika Massoudjan, one of the organizers.
