Parlez-vous Francais? Non? Pourquoi pas? Vous ne savez pas une place New York pour prendre les lecons Francais? Well, guess what! The French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) wants you.
As multiculturalism and diversity continues to be the norm here in our swift-moving, multilingual city–and the rest of the world–the FIAF is the place to be. Located at 22 E. 60th St., between Park and Madison avenues, FIAF offers a variety of French language classes for adults, teens, preteens and toddlers.
FIAF not only offers French classes, but also film screenings, wine tastings and literary programs, all of which kicked off the spring season during the first week of April. Some of these will be covered in our “In and Around NYC” column.
If you are not ready to make the commitment right now for your child to learn French, they can do so with the FIAF summer 2012 French day camp. Classes are designed for teens, kids and toddlers. In essence, according to the FIAF slogan, “Give your child’s summer a French accent” with FIAF’s wide range of fun and creative day camp programs and classes for ages 1-17.
Commencing June 18, the program offers three hours of French language learning in the morning followed by the French Cultural Fun and Discoveries Program in the afternoon. Sign up now for rolling registration and one- or two-week sessions, as well as special all-day packages throughout the summer. These programs are sure to fill up early, so it is advised that you register your children now.
Register online at fiaf.org/languagecenter, by phone at (646) 388-6612 or in person at FIAF. Discounts are available if you register for two or more sessions of a specific program or if two or more siblings register for any of the summer programs.
