The Abyssinian Development Corp., Senior Services, NORC and the Greater New York Links: Health and Wellness Facet sponsored a recent visit and seminar for seniors at the Harlem Foot Center.

The seminar was coordinated by the Abyssinian Development Corporation, AARP, Health Advocates for Older Persons, the Greater New York Links: Health and Wellness Facet, CenterLight for Comprehensive Health Care, the Institute for Puerto Rican and Hispanic Elderly, Assemblyman Robert Rodriguez and the New York City Alzheimer’s Association.

Seniors received individual examinations and evaluations of their feet by doctors and students, toured the clinic’s facilities and attended lectures on the importance of good foot care and how the feet affect the whole body, which were given by Dr. Thomas De Lauro, chairman of the division of medical sciences at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. The visit and seminar were coordinated by Dr. Eunice Ramsey Parker, clinic administrator.

The New York College of Podiatric Medicine is located at 55 E. 124th St. and has been a hidden treasure in the Harlem community for 100 years.

Dr. Marcella Maxwell and Grace Ingleton are the co-chairs of the Greater New York Links: Health and Wellness Facet, a major sponsor.
