An often fatal disease that involves seizures that has been around since 1962 is targeting children in South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda and still there is no cure.
The disease is referred to as the “nodding system.” With this disease, children drop their heads onto their chest in an ongoing swinging motion while falling over into a seizure or sometimes altogether freezing.
There has been almost no progress made in trying to cure this disease. According to the World Health Organization, some 7,000 children have contracted the “nodding system.”
