New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs will host its second conference on literature for children of African descent on Nov. 9 and 10.
Organizers aim to deepen and diversify the conversation and scholarship of the literature as told by its most influential critics, scholars, teachers and producers.
The conference, whose events are free and open to the public, will be held at NYU’s Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South, Manhattan. Panelists include scholars and notable authors like Nancy Tolson, Ashley Bryan, William Loren Katz and Eloise Greenfield.
Highlights include an opening reception and keynote speaker Dr. Michelle H. Martin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, and a children’s panel from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
There will be performances by Impact Repertory Theatre, book sales and a display of rare books.
