As the Central Park Five civil case proceeded in the Federal Courthouse in lower Manhattan on Jan. 17, the December 12th Movement and the Freedom Party held a protest nearby demanding the long-overdue justice and reparations. At an earlier forum, activist Omowale Clay declared, “Every aspect of our lives is under attack. We will get reparations for these young brothers now!” The protest also expressed resistance to the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk policy as a violation of the human rights of Black and Latino men.
