On Sunday, May 19 at 11 a.m., outside Medgar Evers College, the Central Brooklyn Black Legislators Coalition gathered to protest and question CUNY’s commitment to the search process for a new permanent president at Medgar Evers College.
As of now, the current president is still in place despite his resignation and to the college’s detriment, said the coalition. “Medgar Evers College’s best interests are served by immediately appointing an interim acting president who might immediately address Medgar Evers College’s challenges–which arose under the outgoing president–while a full, national search for a permanent president is conducted.”
The Central Brooklyn Black Legislators Coalition includes Assemblymembers Inez Barron, Annette M. Robinson, N. Nick Perry, Karim Camara, Walter T. Mosley and William F. Boyland Jr.; U.S. Reps. Yvette D. Clarke and Hakeem Jeffries; state Sens. Eric Adams, Kevin Parker, John Sampson and Velmanette Montgomery; and Council Members Charles Barron, Mathieu Eugene, Letitia James, Darlene Mealy, Jumaane D. Williams and Albert Vann.
