Tyler Perry’s “Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned”
Greetings! Welcome to our GBE September 2014 “African Re-education Month.” As the doors to educational institutions open up across the country, it is a reminder that the learning never stops and that we as an African-American people owe it to ourselves to never forget “the lessons” of the past and the value of education in the accomplishments of our people. As we face the challenges of the future, combining that foundation with the power of “reinvention” makes everything become possible.
On that note, we say a heartfelt farewell to filmmaker, documentarian and educator William Garfield Greaves, known internationally as Bill Greaves, who passed at age 87 in his home in Harlem, U.S.A., Monday, Aug.25. Greaves was buried in a private service in Brooklyn Aug. 28. Brother Greaves leaves an amazing legacy of work documenting the rich culture of our “Global Black Experience.”
The Bill Greaves film collection is housed at the Schomberg Center. The family will announce a memorial service to be held in Harlem at a later date. Stay tuned.
Michael Jackson’s birthday anniversary was celebrated worldwide and his song, “They Don’t Really Care About Us,” lit up our airwaves on Radio GBE.
