Oct. 1, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and City Councilman Robert E. Cornegy will host Brooklyn’s Best Honors. Sponsored by the Brooklyn borough president’s office, Our Times Press and Brooklyn Burger and Brew, the inaugural affair will take place 7 p.m. at Brooklyn Burgers and Brew, 202 Ralph Ave., with proceeds benefitting Safe Horizon’s Jane Barker Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center. Safe Horizon’s Child Advocacy Center provides an essential community response to New York City’s most vulnerable victims of violence and abuse, giving child victims the foundation they need to move from crisis to confidence.

The quarterly event, which salutes Brooklyn residents while highlighting local business establishments that add richly to the fabric and wellbeing of the beloved borough of Brooklyn, salutes exceptional individuals in the areas of business, civic service, arts and entertainment. Marie Yolaine Eusebe is a Caribbean transplant who claims Bed-Stuy as her home. In the wake of the 7.0 earthquake that struck her native home of Haiti, Eusebe quit her corporate job to form Community2Community, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that is dedicated to creating self-sufficient communities by working with the community.

Since its inception, C2C has worked alongside local residents in her father’s hometown of Petit-Goave to restore clean, potable water by rebuilding infrastructure damaged by the earthquake. In the wake of Haiti’s recent cholera outbreak, C2C led efforts in educating and providing relief to vulnerable residents and recently initiated a reforesting project. As C2C CEO and lead fire-starter, Eusebe launched the annual event Hope and a Future: A Celebration of Haiti and the annual Ayiti Marche, which bring local, national and international businesses and organizations together for a cultural exchange of information, services and products to Brooklyn’s Caribbean and surrounding communities.
