Ronald K. Brown and Evidence, A Dance Company returns to the Joyce Theater for their annual season, celebrating 30 years. They’re bringing a company premiere, a New York premiere and many audience favorites for their Feb. 24-March 1 run in two programs.
Program A will include “The Subtle One” (2014) with live music composed and performed by Jason Moran with his band, the Bandwagon; “Grace” (1999), originally commissioned by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; and excerpts from “Lessons” (1995).
Program B will include the New York premiere of “Through Time and Culture,” a solo danced by Brown; “Gatekeepers” (1999); excerpts from “One Shot” (2007), plus the company premiere of “Why You Follow/Por Que Sigues,” originally commissioned by Cuba’s MalPaso Dance Company. All works are choreographed by Brown.
