ANTIGUA (Jan. 29)—Antigua and Barbuda has appointed two Caribbean hospitality veterans to lead its marketing charge this year.
The newly appointed minister of tourism, economic development investment and energy, Asot Michael, has announced the appointment of the New York-based Jamaican Marie Walker and Haitian Jean-Marc Flambert as Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s vice presidents, with responsibility for sales and marketing for the twin island’s tourism portfolio.
Walker, who served in a previous capacity with the Anguilla Tourist Board, is responsible for the United States and Canada, while Flambert, a former St. Lucia Tourist Board marketer, has responsibility for the United Kingdom and Europe.
Ascot, who is currently attending the 2015 Caribbean Travel Marketplace trade event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, described Walker and Flambert as expert strategists with successful track records of overseeing and directing high-impact tourism marketing campaigns for destinations.
Walker has more than 25 years of tourism marketing experience. Prior to working with Anguilla, she served as the Jamaica Tourist Board’s advertising relations manager for North America.
Flambert recently represented the St. Lucia Tourist Board as director of marketing for the U.K. and Europe, and has also helped promote his native Haiti and Sri Lanka.
Colin James, CEO of ABTA, noted: “We are confident that Marie and Jean-Marc will leverage their industry expertise in overseeing the planning, development and execution of our initiatives to promote and sell Antigua and Barbuda.”
