Special to the AmNews
I’ve always enjoyed connecting with Wesley Snipes. He’s always respectful, fun, informative and, to my understanding, he’s a very loyal man.
On the social occasions, and mind you at the tip-top of his celebrity, he was accessible, encouraging and kind. “Hello, my Queen,” is how the smooth-voiced Snipes would address me and other women during those VIP encounters.
Having worked with him on a high-impact action film in Vancouver, Canada, I discovered the loyal side of “Professor Snipes.”
Here is what Snipes had to share about his life, the future of his company, NBC and being loyal—to the end.
Wesley Snipes: Hello, Ms. Sandoval? This is Professor Snipes. (pause) Are you there? Are we talking now?
(I confess, I had reverted the time of our interview to reflect a West Coast time. When I picked up the call and I heard his voice, I was locking my apartment door. He heard the hesitation and using his “sixth sense,” he called me, correctly, on the pregnant pause.)
AmNews: Mr. Snipes, it’s so good to hear your voice, and yes, we are live. What’s new in your world? Are you a “a player”?
Yes. “The Player” is a new series, and it’s action-packed. Just the way I like it! The high voltage drama takes place among the elite in Las Vegas, and it’s going to make my fan base happy.
Thanks for opening up the question about your “action-based” fan base. I know you to be a loyal man, and you make sure that your “set family” stays employed. It’s a rare trait and one that I respect. Who is on this “Player” adventure?
That’s my reputation, is it? Loyalty? Thank you. Well, most of the stunt men are with me and that includes Chuck Jeffreys. I’ve also added Chuck Norris’ son, Eric Norris, to the team. It’s going to be be revamped up in every episode.
I’m in! What else do you have cooking, on the executive producer side? You are a smart businessman —and I am standing on that statement.
I will keep you in the loop, but yes, you are correct that my production company will be developing both film and television projects.
Hopefully, I will be part of the “first to know” on all future projects.
We can make that happen.
“The Player” can be seen Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST on NBC.
