The Ingersoll Community Center in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, is hosting a sleepover (lock in) Friday, Oct. 3 for 50 young men aged 12 to 18. Saturday, Oct. 31, the participants and chaperones will travel to Philadelphia for a college tour and scavenger hunt.

The community center is in search of partners to support the event. They are in need of sponsors for giveaways, food, beverages, T-shirts, hygiene products, transportation, treats, decorations and pumpkins for decorating. So far, the local church, police station and cultural institutions have committed to donating.

The goals for the event are to reduce the number incidents in the neighborhood during Halloween weekend, expose participants to productive Halloween activities, connect with young men and increase their social capital and provide hope that there is a future for young men of color.
