As the saga at the University of Missouri continues with the resignation of its president over racial issues on the campus, the school is doing everything it can polish its image.
On Monday news broke that the school’s president, Tim Wolfe, announced he was stepping down amid a resistance by Black football players who refused to play unless he left.
Black students on campus say that the university isn’t doing enough to quell ongoing racial issues they face. Students have complained about racial slurs and other incidents.
Mizzuo’s homepage on its website currently features a “Soul Food Brunch” and “Soul Train” show that occurred during the school’s recent Black Culture Awareness Week. The article is highlighted under the “Diversity” section of the website.
Taking place last week, the event featured a film screening, community discussions and lectures. Last Thursday students hosted a show with the theme “Soul Train Awards” featuring participants portraying Black artists from various time periods and record labels.
The University of Missouri’s undergraduate student body is 8 percent Black.
