Fall-holiday 2015 desings by Leanne Marshall (177427)

For the holidays, the look starts with your makeup. Eyes are smoky with long (fake) lashes. Cheeks have a shine. Lips are dark or bright red. At Leanne Marshall’s show, models looked like glamorous versions of characters from “The Walking Dead.” The hair was full, long and somewhat messy yet in place. It’s always interesting to notice how designers accessorize their collection. This show had a drop-dead gorgeous style.

Born in Yuba City, Calif., Marshall has always had fashion in her blood. As a little girl, she enjoyed playing house and fashion designer with her sketchbook, coloring pencils and spare bits of fabrics. Her first sketches were shown at the local pub. Her design sketches are often used to create costumes for entertainers and theatrical performers. Fresh from her recent “Project Runway” win, Marshall was selected as a consultant for season five of the show. Back then, her wave-inspired collection was in shades of turquoise, ivory and sand. She gained experience while designing for Simplicity Pattern Company. Her clothes have graced the pages of Martha Stewart Weddings. Brides and US Weekly.

For fall-holiday 2015, Marshall’s sophisticated designs incorporate flowing, light lines, feminine details and timeless elegance. Each dress is made in New York and utilizes high-quality fabrics. Marshall’s brand is a staple in women’s closets. Her typical following includes women who want to wear a dress that stands out. Her attention to high standards, flattering fits and shapely silhouettes are a part of her unique, ethereal approach to design. There are classic touches of modern modes. Her collection was very youthful. Hair and makeup in this show were spectacular.

Istanbul-born designer Ozlem Kaya designs mainly dresses and blouses in her collection, with comfortable pieces that can be paired with accessories without much effort. Her looks are romantic, sometimes strong yet feminine. She is a young designer who was inspired by her life experiences, influential people and events.

“My strongest muses are people from history, the development of mankind and periods of invention,” said Kaya.

She enjoys creating looks for advertisements, film and theater. Her approach to fashion design adds a different vision and dimension to her creations.
