Black Hollywood. Hispanic Hollywood. Brown Hollywood. Asian Hollywood.

News flash, to no one except Hollywood brass, the world isn’t made up of white and Black people only.

The SAG Awards presented diversity, but popular entertainment media might give evidence to the contrary. Clearly the parties who are building wealth in the creation of entertainment properties are (based purely on statical data) mostly white and male—giving another level to the argument of diversity and inclusion—but there are many interesting and qualified, gifted and passionate people still MIA, in Hollywood, in 2016.

At the 22nd Annual SAG Awards, that was the buzz word and, frankly, the story of the night. Idris Elba said very little on the subject, but his win (“Beasts of No Nation”) shouted it loud enough.

The reflection on the staggering facts were brought to the forefront because of the controversy surrounding Oscar’s second year in a row with an all-white acting lineup. The SAG results this year will draw headlines as a direct comparison to what we are going to see on Oscar night.

Don’t shoot the messengers—frankly there are too many of us. The comparison is somewhat unfair, as nearly all of these diverse winners came from the far more inclusive television side of things, which includes Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black”) and Viola Davis (“How to Get Away With Murder”).

Here are a few images from our first road trip. More to come.
