Design by Oscar de La Renta (201163)

It was just announced that Oscar de la Renta’s summer 2016 collection will make its runway debut and close Australia’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week presentations May 20, 2016. It will be the first international luxury brand to present alongside Australia’s top talent at the MBFWA, and the shows will introduce several new, young design houses.

Oscar de la Renta is one of the world’s major luxury brands. This New York-based house was established in 1965 by its namesake. Currently, the collection is under the creative design direction of Peter Copping. The company will continue to produce a full line of women’s shoes, handbags, jewelry, eyewear, bridal and children’s wear, home décor and fragrance. In addition, the company will be represented in Sydney by Executive Vice President Eliza Bolen. “We are very excited to partner with IMG and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia for our first show in Sydney,” commented Alex Bolen, chief executive officer of Oscar de la Renta LLC. “We look forward to bringing the world of Oscar de la Renta to stylish Australia.” Etihad Airways will be one of this season’s sponsors.

For new color notes of fashion, home and interior products, Pantone introduces a new range of 210 new colors. Look for classic shades of white to expand in both warm and cool shades. Neutral whites with a soft quality have names such as Sea, Salt and Buttercream. Neutrals look like almond milk and Brazilian sand. The taupe and khaki color families will continue to be important. In a warmer variety, classic taupes include hazelnut and porcini.

Grays are in demand. Color depths range from Harbor Mists to Oyster Mushroom and the deeper charcoal shades. The deep and intense Black Onyx and Black Beauty shades are as sophisticated as ever. In the red family, they added a richer variety and more elegant tones. Deeper wine reds show hints of brown, including Spiced Apple, Merlot and Red Pear.

Purple hues continue to soar and embrace a more multidimensional aspect of purple. They added red-based purples such as Grape Kiss and Charisma, and there are several grayed-down purples with some blue tones. In an array of softer tones, there are hues such as Lilac Breeze, Purple Sapphire and the Violet Indigo. The blues bring out a broader palette with varying degrees of watery and more vibrant aquamarine blues. See shades such as Zen Blue, Serenity, Airy Blue, Chambray Blue, Marine Blue, Gibraltar Sea, Moonlit Ocean and Deep Dive blues.

The green color influence continues, showing a wide variety of shades. There are natural and earthy warm greens such as warm yellow greens, guacamole and split pea colors. Green shades of Lush Meadow, the olive-infused Sea Turtle and Kalamata are in the mix. The deep blue-influenced greens include Forest Bloom, Rain Forest and citrusy energetic shades of Lime Popsicle and Evening Primrose.
