Dr. Khalid Abdul Muhammad, internationally known as the Black Power General, was celebrated Jan. 12 at Brooklyn’s House of the Lord Church on what would have been his 69th birthday. The Revs. Herbert and Karen Daughtry welcomed an appreciative audience who came to honor the Pan-Africanist who had Black self-determination at the root of many of his philosophies.

Noted Black psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist Dr. Umar Johnson, a sometimes controversial figure, gave the keynote speech and spoke out against what he charged was the racially biased application of special education in public schools.
