National Black Theater (147217)

The bigger the digital world becomes, the more the demand for content will continue to grow. It was only a matter of time before a bright company, such as CLRED Media Inc., would create a web festival to celebrate African and African-American storytellers.

This development is great news for digital creatives because the first annual Black Web Fest has announced that they are still accepting content for the event that will be held at the National Black Theatre in Harlem.

The Black Web Fest is a three-day festival delving into the realm of online content produced, written and performed by people of the African Diaspora. The festival will begin online April 6, 2017, and end at the National Black Theatre April 8, 2017.

This festival is described as a place where “creativity and technology collide” and will give some insight into the entertainment industry, which is moving—like a heat-seeking missile—toward streaming platforms.

The Black Web Fest is giving digital media makers the opportunity to showcase their work and to tell stories that focus on people of color, along with providing a platform to discuss technology trends in media-making, how to stand out in the oversaturated market and how to create a brand that is built to last.

This all begins April 6, with a live stream interview that will allow participants to connect with an expert in the media industry. April 7, the festival will host a Twitter chat so media makers can interact from across the globe about a common interest. The final day will be April 8 at the National Black Theatre in Harlem, where filmmakers, actors and other media makers will come together to screen the selected film submissions, as well as participate in informative panel discussions.

The Black Web Fest is now accepting film submissions for the following categories:

Best Short Documentary

Best Short Film

Best Web Series

Best Vlog Series

All submissions are to be uploaded via the Film Freeway link on BlackWebFest.com by Feb. 25, 2017. For complete submission rules and eligibility criteria for shorts, web series and documentaries go to https://filmfreeway.com/festival/BlackWebFest?utm_campaign=Submission+Button&utm_medium=External&utm_source=Submission+Button.
