Activists, community leaders, politicians and residents attended a barbecue at the 157th Street Playground to bring attention to citywide work around gun violence and creating an environment for a safe summer. Erica Ford’s Life Camp/I Love My LIFE brought together all violence-prevention workers and organizations as one unified group.

Along with Erica Ford’s Life Camp, Inc. were State Sen. Leroy Comrie, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, New York musical artists and anti-violence activists, NYCHA Tenants Association members and others.

Together they enjoyed a day of barbecue for Gun Violence Awareness Month, a citywide obstacle challenge, dance competitions, a social justice art exhibit and beautiful weather.
