Greetings! Our thanks to the overflow crowd who attended our Radio GBE-WBAI Apollo Uptown Hall: Movement Required. In addition to raising critical issues of police-community relations, the event also shed important light on the Philadelphia police bombing of the MOVE organization in 1985. Also, much appreciation to sista Ramona Afrika, one of the lone MOVE survivors of the atrocity, who joined us with an eyewitness account, additional insights and inspiration. Kudos also to Brother Ade Williams for his vision and the Apollo team for another outstanding effort that set the stage for the world-famous Apollo Theater’s MOVE-inspired opera, “We Shall Not Be Moved.”
Jason Lent and Damon Elliott (Grammy award-winning producer and son of Dionne Warwick) the co-founders of AMBLVD Records, proudly announce the release of “The World Needs Love,” a new re-mix featuring Grammy award-winning producer/composer, Nomad, and multiple Grammy award-winning artist, Dionne Warwick. The remix, inspired by Warwick’s hit “What the World Needs Now is Love,” was originally intended for a holiday launch in November 2017, but was pushed up in light of the recent Las Vegas tragedy. The song will be made available on all streaming services including iTunes, Spotify and Google Play. A portion of the proceeds from “The World Needs Love” will be donated to the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund on GoFundMe.
