The Harlem-made brand, Ginjan juice (@GinjanBros), a ginger-based beverage, announced their expansion into Whole Foods Market stores citywide and throughout Long Island, N.Y. The brand is currently carried in 100-plus retailers, as well as Whole Foods Markets in Harlem, Williamsburg, Gowanus, Upper East Side and Tribeca.

Ginjan was born out of the childhood memories of the African immigrant brothers, Mohammed and Rahim Diallo, both from Conakry, Guinea, where ginger juice (aka ginjan) was the drink of choice. After moving to America, the brothers wanted to bring the taste of home to the U.S., so they worked on the recipe for the drink, with some help from their mother, and launched Ginjan in 2015.

Ginjan juice combines fresh ginger, cold-pressed pineapple and lemon juice, vanilla, anise and cane sugar for a bright, refreshing drink that hits all the right notes. The expansion marks a significant growth opportunity for the brand as it continues its quest to do for African food products what Chobani has successfully done for Greek yogurt, starting with ginjan.

“We could not be happier for this expanded partnership with Wholefoods Market and the opportunity it creates for the growth of our brand,” said Mohammed Diallo.

“It has been our dream to bring the delightful tastes of Africa to America in an accessible and enjoyable way,” added Rahim Diallo.

This beverage is a delicious Harlem artisan product, perfect on its own or mixed in a cocktail. Congratulations on your achievements! Here is to many more! Cheers!
